Google “Hummingbird” Algorithm

Google HummingbirdGoogle Hummingbird

Google has a new Engine and it is called Hummingbird.  It will be interesting to see how it impacts on our sites over the next few months!

Google tells us that the Page Rank is not dead as there are hundreds of things taken into consideration when deciding the value of a website or individual page re content and inbound links etc.  A handy tool brought to us by Search Engine Land is The Periodic Table Of SEO Success Factors.  This tool highlights concise information that is very useful, to at least understand if you are working with an external SEO team.

Hummingbird is meant to pay more attention to every word in a search (keyed in by browser) which means the results will be precise and faster.  I liked Google Instant but this new upgrade means that if you type in home it will potentially think about bricks and mortar as opposed to home page on a website.  Hummingbird was launched in August 2013 but promoted heavily on-line in September 2013.

This does not mean that SEO Agencies or practices are dead, the guidelines are the same.

Produce high quality content and be consistent.
